Recently, i have been very interested in the 1900's history. it's absolutely amazing! i love everything about it. 1900-1970 was glorious in every way. this last semester in my American history class, we covered like 1700, 1800's... blek. i just dont really like it at all. and then, of course, right before break we started in on world war 1. now that's more like it. and this is going to sound dumb, but i absaolutely love the fashion trends during this time too. and i have always loved movies that are supposed to take place during these times. for example, cinderella man, the notebook, that thing you do, flyboys, pearl harbor, titanic (might be late 1800's?), anything great depression/world war 2... LOVE it. so today i rented this random redbox movie called Midnight in Paris. i only got it because it has rachel mcadams... but to my great delight, it happened to take place partically during the 20's. well how perfect is that! and therefore, it inspired me to do some research on 1900's fashion trends. here you go, enjoy.

i feel like i put people down a lot over the internet because im too scared to do it to their face. in honor of the christmas spirit, i have made a personal goal to change this aspect of my life. i will, from now on, talk trash to people's face. just kidding. in honor of the christmas spirit, im going to be nice to people for a full year and refrain from cyber bullying anyone. it's goinng to be a challange but i really feel like i have an issue. the end.

prodigy and psychotic go hand in hand.

lets start from the begining. bethoven. first of all, pretty sure he was gay. brilliant music, in reality, everyone probly thought he was crasyy. musicians/artists/brilliant scientists/inventors have to be somewhat insane i think. either be trippin out of drugs constantly or just straight up weird. well... lets just say i know someone who is an absolute musical mastermind. he's one of those people that hears things differently than most people do. his musical mind capacity is endless. it amazes me. and he's so good with words, it's insane. but he is.. uhh.... insane. like in every way possible. aside frombeing gay. when someone starts using his own song lyrics in a conversation to express the way he's feeling, there's reason to be concerned. it's just weird. and it makes me think, is mayday parade in real life like that? does alex gasgart (spellingg?) have no friends in real life? it would make sense. i always thought about the boys taylor swift writes songs about... like, be prepaped boys, one mess up and you're the new #3 on itunes. well when i hang around this unnamed boy, i feel like im the next addition to the pure volume music database. it's a scary feeling. especially when after you say something, he says, that would go perfectly in this song im working on. ummm..... what. get a life, stop being depressed, stop smoking hfigjkjhrhhhd (that refers to whatever the heck kids are smoking these days) and grow up. poor brilliant musicians.

well it's thursdayy...

What Makes An Item Vintage?

A clothing item is considered vintage if it dates from 1920 to 1960. After that date, an item is considered to be retro, not vintage.
The Function of Buttons On Jacket Sleeves.

Have you ever asked yourself why there are buttons on the ends of jacket sleeves. According to information passed down through the ages, none other than Napoleon Bonaparte dictated that buttons be attached to jacket sleeves to stop the annoying habit soldiers had of wiping their runny noses on their jacket sleeves.

it's that glorious time of the year.

that is correct, it is the wonderful winter season. what does this mean? boots, scarfs, heavy jackets, cardigans and arizona freezing cold rain. well you know... and christmas and family togetherness, no big deal. just kidding, that's a big deal. but seriously, back to arizona winters. aside from the tons of rain we have had this week and my lack of decent winter clothing, it's been great. today it was pouring on my walk back from seminary... problem. how the heck is one supposed to style their hair to be rain-proof? luckily i didn't do anything to my hair today. after this dreadful walk across the street, i went to the bathroom to try to repair the damage. after using all possible self-control within me to resist sticking my head under the hand dryers to try to dry the sopping wet, flat, nasty mess, i decided to give up. winter season is just not an attractive one. no one looks very flattering when it's freezing cold and wet outside. so who even cares? well i'll tell you right now, i definitely don't. it's not like there's any boys to impress at school anyways. whatever. what was i saying again... oh yeah, winter. well quick side note before i get down to buisness. i found a vintage bicycle site. look at it, enjoy it, fall in love with it, here you go. how did i find this? who freakin knows. i run into all sorts of random stuff. pintrest? dont get. dont like it. just so you know.

now to buisness. i have found some winter style picture treasures for you, folks.

beautifully done, jess. cropped boyfriend jean, flats, polka dots and a circle scarf.

a major major challenge i struggle with is the whole short sleeave jacket/sweater thing... why the crap do they even sell those? well. if you mix it right, they look quite nice. like featured above. i just dont have the ability to find the perfect long sleeve shirt to go underneath of my short sleeve sweaters, therefore i just dont wear them.

pencil skirt with tights. very nice, very nice.

love it. ugly wrap sweaters? glorious.

FAV. polka dots tucked in with the high waited crop jeans.. glorious red leather jacket and pattern mixed with the lepard print.

this isnt wintery, i just liked it. haha

colored skinnies... yeahh.

CUTE.

arlght, i just found this fun little blog. some of it's kind of weird, but it's still a cute idea.

i stalk this chick kind of a lot... her pattern mixing gets a little insane sometimes and occasionally it's sketch... like, you seriously wore that to school? but whatevs. i like her because 1) she's mormon and she dresses modestly for the most part. which i like to see an example of. 2) she's young and all these pictures are of the outfit she wore to school... so it's inspirational. 3) she bargin hunts/ thrift store shops. 4) she loves pattern mixing/block coloring/style clashing more than i do. which is rare. check it out.

welll... i know i have no authority to say this. but i think others will agree with me that the following outfit combination is atrocious. picture this. cropped dress pants (like capri, barely below the knee length, baggy and loose fitting) and leather boots. i dont know if mentally picturing it by my description will fully do it. but it is not a flattering look. especiallyyyy when the pants are short enough so there's a gap between the hem and the top of the boots.. deary no. especiallyyyy if it's those suede boots that sag.. ya know what i'm saying? it just shouldnt be done. i recently decided that im in love with winter clothes. boots, scarfs, pea coats, trench coats, tights, skinny jeans, leather jackets... it's all wonderful. a boy who can pull off a pea coat is definitly a keeper.
